Did she or didn't she?

The ruckus over Marla Olmstead raises more than questions of whether a 4-year-old can paint fine abstract art, whether Charlie Rose was rude, or if documentary filmmakers should apologize for breaking the fourth wall. It points to a path for any marketer crafting a message. Be unique. Be dramatic. Challenge assumptions. We don't know if a child can be an artistic genius, but we hope it's true, because that would shake our preconceptions. Good messaging is more than color or words. Good messaging makes you think of the world in an entirely new way.
