At first glance, AP's decision to pump news straight into iPhones and other mobile devices seems like the death knell for newspapers.
+ Except papers make more money because about 100 major newspapers are partnering in the service and will share in revenue from advertising.
- Except papers make less money because those little glass screens, even with two-finger zoom-in, won't hold as many ads as a broadsheet piece of paper with smudgy ink.
+ Except papers make more money because those mobile ads will have higher response rates thanks to novelty and GPS-location tie-ins that lure customers to the store just 0.4 miles north.
- Except papers make less money because consumers communicating via mobile pay less attention to ads, driving down response rates once novelty wears off, because they're doing stuff like talking or typing to friends or taking pictures or video.
