Well, maybe, but we want one. Gizmodo reports Microsoft is now conducting consumer research on an "Oahu" touchscreen table that would allow you to toss images around with your fingers, sort of like John King playing with election maps on CNN. The Microsoft Surface computer is no secret, you can find it profiled here, but you still can't buy the thing.
Microsoft was burned a few years ago when it pushed touchscreen laptops that never took off, but we see a huge opportunity for interactive tables -- as silly as that sounds. Homework, taxes, research, drawing, and games are all activities that usually take over a table's surface -- our own house on a weekday evening looks like a library blew up in our kitchen -- and an interactive touchscreen would make sense. Gizmodo says the Microsoft survey asks if consumers would accept a $1,500 price point. Hell, yeah. Apple, are you listening?
