Junk, the future of advertising?

Driving down a windy road to dinner tonight, we almost nailed a 1-800-GOT-JUNK truck parked with its butt end out in the street. And then we thought. Brilliant. In New England, these franchisee trucks are everywhere -- and when not in use, drivers park them by roads, on highway overpasses, anywhere you can't help but see the big bold logo. Rolling outdoor.

Soon, when consumers pay $15 per gallon for gas, we expect national fleets of outdoor billboard flashing on every consumer car or truck via flexible high-resolution screens wrapped on your hood and tailgate. Wireless towers will flip the switch so your moving billboard lights up with the 50 other cars stuck in traffic. Ad networks will sell your car's "skin." Personalized ads could pop up when GPS positioning notes a consumer is passing you. If she was recently browsing for new sneakers online, presto -- your car has a Nike Swoosh light up on the sheet metal, the other driver responds to the ad via her bluetooth iPhone, and $5.00 for the click through lands in your PayPal account.

Could happen. Til then, we'll have to settle for Junk.
